Dr. Sandy D. Espinosa, MD is a board-certified Internal Medicine specialist (ABIM) with his own practice in Miami since 2023 and an active practice at Baptist Health Doctors Hospital. He earned his medical degree from Universidad de Ciencias Médicas de Pinar del Río, Cuba, in 2002, and completed his Internal Medicine residency at Larkin Community Hospital Palm Springs Campus, in affiliation with Nova Southeastern University, where he served as Chief Resident (2020–2023).
Before completing his residency, Dr. Espinosa spent more than a decade in direct patient care as a registered nurse in Miami: in hospice and palliative care and case management at VITAS Healthcare (2010–2020), and as a home health visiting nurse at ASA Home Care (2006–2010). Earlier still, he worked as a family and urgent care doctor at two polyclinics in Pinar del Río, Cuba. That path gives him a perspective many physicians don't have: he has cared for patients from the bedside and from the exam room.
Many patients specifically search for an Internal Medicine specialist when they want an adult-focused doctor with deep training to diagnose and manage chronic or complex conditions over time, not just one-off visits. Beyond his ABIM certification, he maintains certifications in advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), basic life support (BLS), and pediatric life support (PALS), and sees patients in both English and Spanish.
